Early Life and Background
Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, professionally known as Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and pianist born on March 23, 1994, in Osun State, Nigeria. He was raised in a family of entertainers—his mother, Toyin Adewale, is a renowned Nollywood actress, while his father is an artist and movie producer.
Mayorkun studied Accounting at the University of Lagos, but his passion for music made him switch paths. While working in a bank, he continued recording and sharing song covers online until his big break.
Early Career and Discovery by Davido
Mayorkun’s life changed in 2016 when he posted a cover of Davido’s song “The Money” on Twitter. Davido noticed his talent and reached out to him, eventually signing him to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).
Shortly after, Mayorkun released his debut single “Eleko”, which became an instant hit, amassing millions of views on YouTube within weeks and topping Nigerian music charts.
Rise to Fame
