Early Life & Education
Lawrence Gomba Oyor was born on June 16, 1991, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, to a devout Christian family—his parents, Rev. Gomba Fortune Oyor and Rev. Patience Oyor, led a ministry known as "God Will Do It" . He grew up alongside a twin brother, Godswill Oyor, and two other siblings, Michael and Wisdom .
After completing his secondary education at Shalom Christian College, Lawrence studied Law at the University of Ibadan, graduating in 2013. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School (Yola Campus) and obtained his BL . Despite his legal training, he felt a stronger calling to ministry and furthered his theological education at the Texas Bible Institute, graduating in 2016 .
Ministry Beginnings & Davidic Minstrels
Raised in a spiritually rich environment, Lawrence led children's choirs from as early as age 10. After law school, he redirected his life towards full-time ministry, joining forces with his twin brother to co-found Davidic Minstrels—a revivalist worship movement rooted in prophetic chants and spiritual fervor . In November 2021, they expanded their spiritual outreach by launching Davidic Generation Church in Ibadan.
Music, Style & Notable Releases
Lawrence is recognized for his prophetic chants and worship songs, often blending spiritual intensity with musical artistry. His signature track, "Bowl of Fire," is renowned for igniting spiritual revival . He has released a range of worship anthems including “Fall in Love,” “I Love You,” “Row Your Boat,” “Burn the World,” “Eagles Flight,” and many more .
In 2025, Lawrence emerged in mainstream conversations again through two major releases:
A collaboration on "No Turning Back II" with Gaise Baba that reinvigorated the classic hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” bringing it into contemporary worship trends and social media virality .
The powerful anthem "I Will Never Bow”, with his brother Godswill, embodying conviction and spiritual resilience in its raw, unplanned worship flow .
Ministry Leadership & Mentorship
Through the Catalyst Network International (CNI) ministry, Lawrence conducts spiritual programs rooted in prayer, consecration, and revival ethos . He also leads the Lawrence Oyor Mentorship Platform, guiding aspiring worship leaders, and organizes the Battle Axe Retreat, an annual revival gathering fueling spiritual awakening .
Personal Life
Lawrence married Darasimi Mike-Bamiloye, daughter of famed gospel filmmaker Mike Bamiloye, on October 10, 2020 . The couple welcomed their first son, Elijah Lawrence-Oyor, on July 16, 2021, and later had a second son in 2023 .
